Beyond the Ferry Routes
The Outer Islands
Beyond the four ferry-served islands lies a quieter archipelago: smaller islands reachable only by private boat or small plane. Each has its own character, its own community, and its own answer to what privacy in the islands can mean.
Decatur Island
A quiet community at the eastern edge of the archipelago, reached by private boat or small plane.
Brown Island
Just across the harbor from Friday Harbor, reachable by a short boat ride.
Henry Island
Tucked beside San Juan Island near Roche Harbor, almost entirely private.
Blakely Island
Forested and largely private, with a residents' airstrip and old-growth trails.
Stuart Island
Remote and largely off-grid, anchored by a marine state park and a historic schoolhouse.
Obstruction Island
Set in the pass between Orcas and Blakely, small and largely private.

The archipelago holds more islands than are mentioned above, some privately held in their entirety, others rarely on the market. If you have a particular island, parcel, or possibility in mind, please reach out and we can talk it through.
