About
Owen Albert
Real Estate Advisor, San Juan Islands

Raised between Seattle and the San Juan Islands, Owen has spent most of his life as part of this community. The cadence of the ferry, the seasons of the harbors, the close-knit feel of life out here are not abstractions to him; they are the texture of how he grew up.
He studied History and Social Studies at Western Washington University, a background that taught him to look closely at places and the people in them. That habit, more than anything else, shapes how he works in real estate today.
His clients fall into a few familiar categories. First-time and move-up buyers anchoring their lives here. Sellers preparing to pass a property on to its next chapter. And a defining segment of the island market: those purchasing a vacation home, a quiet retreat, or a piece of land to build on.
He works under the Island Group Sotheby’s International Realty banner because the combination matters: a boutique, locally rooted team backed by the global Sotheby’s network. Clients buying or selling in the islands are not part of an assembly line. They are working with a small, attentive team, with access to a reach that few brokerages can offer.
How I Work
A few principles, kept consistently.
Listen first.
Real estate is supposed to follow the client, not the other way around. Every relationship begins with understanding what the property needs to do in someone’s life: where it sits in their year, who it has to fit, what it can and cannot be.
Local depth.
Each ferry-served island has its own character, and the outer islands each their own. A property listing rarely captures what daily life on a particular island actually feels like. Closing that gap is where a knowledgeable local agent does the most useful work.
Honest advice.
Sometimes the best counsel is to wait. Sometimes the right property is not the most expensive one. Better to be the agent whose clients return five years on than the one who closed a deal anyone might have closed.
